Unlocking Potential of Parking Lots

Location: New York, USA
Completion: Spring 2023 | Individual Work
Scope: Urban Furniture Design

This project investigates the revitalization of urban settings through strategic placement of modular urban furniture, guided by big data analysis. By utilizing open-source POI data and applying k-means clustering to New York City's urban grid, the project identifies key functional clusters that shape the design of flexible furniture solutions. The goal is to optimize the use of "lost spaces," such as parking lots, turning them into vibrant, multifunctional public areas that meet the specific needs of various urban settings. Through this project, I aim to create a more efficient and inclusive urban landscape, where space is maximized and public interaction is enhanced.
