"Flight Into Awareness"
Location: Brooklyn Prospect Park, NY
Completion: Spring 2024 | Individual Work
Scope: Education / Environmental Learning
This project envisions a place to boost bird conservation awareness among New York City’s primary school children through playful and educational interventions. The organization focuses on local habitats in Prospect Park and its relationship with our urban environment. Strategies around “learning through play” are explored to enhance children’s engagement and appreciation for nature. Through immersive spatial interventions, children encounter the survival challenges birds face in urban environments—such as light pollution, water contamination, and window collisions. By translating these issues into tactile, visual, and movement-based experiences, the center transforms abstract environmental crises into accessible and empathetic learning moments.

The on site offers a sense of accomplishment and help thm get out of the traditional classroom which is boring. This is beneficial for the well-being and physical health of children. Also, as children earn learning points, their self-esteem and confidence grow. In addition, my thesis idea is about interacting, reflecting, playing, it’s a process of experiencing how spatial interactions can shape the way children play.
